Healthcare
The Powell Global Foundation (PGF) acknowledges healthcare as a fundamental component of human well-being and sustainable development. This is particularly critical in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where large segments of the population encounter significant barriers to accessing healthcare. These challenges are often rooted in a complex interplay of systemic, socioeconomic, cultural, and geographic determinants. PGF implements community-based initiatives aimed at improving the quality of healthcare and ensuring equitable access to essential services.
Key interventions include:
- Provision of free medical and basic medical equipments
- Payment of medical bills for vulnerable individuals
- Specialized care for the elderly (aged)
- Quarterly sponsorship of free surgical procedures
- Establishment of Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) and provision of basic medical assistance and essential supplies eg. neonatal Incubators, phototherapy machines etc.
- Installation of advanced External Beam Radiation Therapy equipment for male patients undergoing treatment for prostate cancer to improve the quality of life.
Scope of activities
The Powell Global Foundation (PGF) currently operates in Ghana, while engaging in collaborative efforts with like-minded networks across Africa and other regions. The organization envisions expanding its operations globally in the future.
PGF’ Interventions for the Aged, Children, and Youth in Ghana since its operation
The Powell Global Foundation (PGF) implements targeted interventions aimed at improving the well-being of marginalized populations in Ghana, particularly impoverished older adults, children, and youth. Through its structured initiatives, PGF provides access to free medical care, financial support for medical bills, quality education, and programs that address both physical and spiritual well-being. These activities are intended to enable beneficiaries to lead dignified, productive lives within their communities.
PGF has demonstrated sustained commitment to the welfare of the elderly. Over the years, it has actively collaborated with international partners, including student groups from Denmark, to advocate for the rights, dignity, and healthcare needs of older adults, particularly those residing in underserved communities.
In response to the multifaceted challenges facing the aged, PGF has developed and implemented a series of community-based programs. These include:
Mobile health clinics that provide essential medical services in remote areas.
Caregiver training programs to strengthen the capacity of those providing direct support to the elderly.
Health and wellness campaigns aimed at promoting mental health, social inclusion, and active aging.
Advocacy initiatives addressing elder neglect and the social isolation of seniors.
These interventions reflect PGF’s broader commitment to social equity and are grounded in both personal motivation and an overarching mission to enhance the quality of life for vulnerable populations in Ghana.
